Take time out with our newest Forever products while using a simple mindfulness technique.
Any kind of stress, whether mental, emotional or physical, can trigger a particular biological response in the body—your shoulders tense, your head feels tight, your jaw can become clenched as your mind races. Adding in a Mindfulness Technique
Though I love a tranquil guided meditation to relax, as a certified mindfulness coach, I found that there are many easy to remember techniques you can do almost anywhere that promotes calm.
The STOP Technique is a mindfulness-based practice designed to help you defuse stress in the moment and can complement while you practice self-care with Forever products.
Taking time to STOP can calm your mind, emotions and body, can help you gain perspective and determine the best possible action you can take next. Over time and with practice, this technique of responding becomes a habit and is easy to remember. Creating space in the day to pause and slow down a racing mind, and get back into the present moment has been incredibly helpful in reducing the negative effects of stress.
S = Stop
Stop what you’re doing right now, get in a comfortable position in a chair while you soak your feet in a tub or in a bubble bath filled with foamy Aloe Liquid Soap. Put on a Aloe Bio-Cellulose Mask and just relax.
T = Take
Take a few deep breaths. Maybe in through the nose initially for several long deep breaths (from the diaphragm/lower belly area), and then out through the mouth. With each exhalation, allow your body to soften a bit more. Breathe in and sense the breath coming in. Hold for five seconds. Breath out and sense the breath going out, then repeat the process five times. Allow your body to take the breath it needs in its natural rhythm of being alive. Place your favourite Forever Essential Oil in a candle diffuser near you or even place a few drops on a cotton wool pad in the tub's corner where you can bring it close and inhale the rich scents as you breathe.
O = Observe
Observe if there’s any tension or tightness anywhere, especially in the face, jaw and shoulders. If you notice any of that, just allow it to soften. This is a perfect time to let the Aloe Bio-Cellulose Mask sink into your skin as you become aware of how you are feeling mentally and emotionally in this moment. Maybe it is a calm, or a restlessness/irritation, or maybe even a bit of sadness. We aren’t judging these emotions but accepting what comes our way in this set aside time, identify them, allow ourselves to feel them, and move on.
Continue to observe yourself physically and emotionally in this moment, just letting things be. It’s OK—the “o” of observe is just to allow us to be aware of our experience in the moment; physically, emotionally, and mentally. The moment we notice that our mind is off is a moment we’re present. Settle in, be aware of the fullness of your experience physically, emotionally, and mentally, and just let be in the moment.
P= Proceed
Proceed is just dropping the question of: “What’s most important for me to pay attention to right now?” or “What am I needing right now?” Allow whatever answer is there to simply and slowly arise. Proceed with that in this next moment. Maybe you need to take a few more deep breaths and then release some worries you have been pondering. Maybe you just need to sit with the sadness of loss for a few moments or take time to have gratitude for the things that are positive in your life.
This is a great act of self-care; take the final moment to acknowledge yourself for taking this time before you wrap up and go back into the routines of life.

We’ve seen a distinct change in the weather this week which implies that spring is on the way and we’re hoping that the longer days and warmer weather will begin to lift your spirits as we move out of a very long winter! That said, we know that the continued uncertainty of the coming months is having a toll of most of us, so we wanted to offer some practical advice for ensuring you’re taking care of your mental health.
Focus on what you can control
Part of why we’re feeling so uneasy at the moment is that there’s far too much in the air that we have no way of controlling. Whether it’s when we’ll get to see friends and family again, when that wedding will be able to happen or when we’ll get to travel the world again, focusing on what we can’t control will only leave us anxious.
Make a conscious effort to put your mind towards what you can control: set a daily routine that feels good; set a to-do list that feels plausible so that it’s easy to check it off and feel accomplished; commit to exercising once per day; do a thorough spring clean (one room at a time if the whole house feels like too much of a task); check in with friends and family for chat.
Practise gratitude
Whether you voice your gratitude out loud or jot it down in a journal at the end of every day, the simple act of giving thanks even for the smallest things will shift your mindset. Don’t let the bad parts of your day make you feel bitter, instead celebrate the good every time it happens. Eventually you’ll start to notice the good much more and realise that life’s still great.
Breathe
We had a great session with Forever ambassador Kristina Rihanoff the other week to discuss the benefits of breathing and meditation. Even if you’re unable to commit half an hour to a full meditation or yoga session there are few who can’t commit to five minutes of breathing mindfully each day, and even this simple thing can do wonders for your mental health.
Simply take yourself to a quiet part of your house (even if it’s just your bathroom!), set a timer for five minutes and get comfortable. Breathe in through your nose for a count of four seconds, hold for another four, breathe out for another four and hold for four more. Repeat until the timer runs out. Try to focus on the rhythm of your breathing and the beating of your heart. Take a few moments to wriggle your fingers and toes. If your mind wanders, gently bring it back to the here and now. All of this can really bring a sense of calm to your mind that’ll help you tackle the rest of your day head on.
Nourish your body
Taking good care of your body can really help to lift your mood. While it may be all too easy to default to comfort food when things feel a little doom and gloom, you’ll actually feel all the better for eating healthy foods, drinking plenty of water and getting a good amount of exercise each day. Tips for Showing love to yourself and others this Valentine's Day!

Valentine’s day is fast approaching: the day of love and affection. Now more than ever we need to show a little bit of love. Whilst Valentine’s Day is usually associated with romantic love, this year, we have decided to use the season of love as an opportunity to show everyone we care about just how much we appreciate them, as well as being more mindful about our acts of self-love.
During these strange times it can be easy to feel overwhelmed, so it is more important than ever to connect with those we care about, and show them we value them. And whilst there is no denying that this year’s celebrations are going to be a little bit different, there are still plenty of ways you can fill the 14th of February with love and appreciation.
We have put together a few tips for how you can demonstrate your love for others and yourself this Valentine’s Day.
L - Listen
Listening to others is one of the most authentic and genuine ways of showing you care. It can be especially hard at the moment to stay connected but taking time out of your day to call or Zoom with the people you care about most, and really tuning in to what they are saying, is a great way to show them you are thinking about them and value them. Feeling heard and understood, especially in harder times, will really help you to connect, even if you can’t be together.
Show yourself some love by listening to your body. This sounds simple, but it can be tricky with the stresses and challenges of day-to-day life. Sometimes even though our bodies feel fatigued, tired, and lethargic, we don’t allow ourselves to slow down due to responsibilities or fear we won’t meet others’ expectations. Make sure you are giving yourself a break and setting aside some “me-time” to pamper yourself, and relax after the stresses of the day. Why not treat yourself to an at-home Spa session? O – Be Open

Taking up a new skill or hobby together is a great way to create memories lasting beyond Valentine’s Day, and is a brilliant way to show them you know them.
Pushing yourself to try something new is also a great way to boost your mood. Whether that’s a new recipe to put your culinary skills to the test, or trying out that hobby you have been meaning to have a go at. That exercise you thought you couldn’t do? Be open and have a go! Physical activity can boost your mental health and improve your mood because of the release of endorphins, and it is a great way to show some love to your body too.
V – Value
Showing them how much you value them doesn’t have to cost the earth. Instead of buying expensive gifts why not send them a personalised postcard or write them a letter? Making cards is a great way to get crafty and try something different, and if you have children it is a great activity to do together. Writing a letter is also a wonderful way to express how much you care, and is a great surprise gift that they can cherish. It is also a sweet thing to do for your significant other. Whether you send them something in the post if you aren’t living together, or leave a note on the kitchen counter if you are, this cute gesture is a tangible, lasting, and personal way to tell them you love them.
Valuing yourself is also a great way to boost your mood and show some love. We are naturally much better at being our worst critics than our biggest fans, so every morning try thinking or writing down ten things that you are grateful for or have achieved. This affirmation is a great way to start each day with a brighter outlook and look for the positives in each day, no matter how big or small.
E – Engage in acts of kindness
If you are looking for ways to share love on Valentine’s Day that do not focus on materialistic goodies, why not try and participate in a few random acts of kindness. Next week is also Random Acts of Kindness week, so what better time to show some love?
Helping others has been shown to be good for our own mental health; it helps reduce stress and can improve our overall wellbeing. This means that being kind to someone can not only make them feel supported and cared for, but can also makes us feel good too. Random acts of kindness, however small, can have the power to brighten someone’s (and your) day.
Whilst many things have changed because of Covid-19, the ways in which we can show kindness have remained the same. A few examples of random acts of kindness that you can try now and at any time could be:
Posting a note through your neighbour’s door to check in with them, particularly if they are vulnerable.
Tell someone you love how much they mean to you.
Donate to your local foodbank or to a charity that is close to your heart.
Check in regularly with your colleagues and ask how they are feeling with the change in working routine.
Perhaps most importantly, don’t forget to be kind to yourself.
These acts don’t have to be big gestures. During this challenging time, people have been coming together and are supporting one another; and we are showing that, even in some of the most difficult times, we can all choose to be kind.
No matter how you express your love, showing others, and yourself, that you care not only makes them feel valued and appreciated, but also boosts your mood and happiness too. Engaging in these simple but meaningful things can really help with your ability to be kind to yourself and to feel more connected to those around you. This Valentine’s Day, take the time to thank the people who make our lives richer and to express our own precious feelings of love.
